The
Dorothy Ley Hospice will be Toronto’s first freestanding residential
palliative care hospice that provides care to people with terminal
illness. Located on the grounds of the Trillium Health Care Centre in
Etobicoke, the 10-bed residence will provide round-the-clock care to
more than 200 clients a year.
Highlights
of the redevelopment project include comfortable private bedrooms,
recreation and dining areas, quiet mediation spaces and a tranquil
garden. In addition, it will enable the Hospice to expand its day
respite, bereavement and educational programs and other support
services to family members and loved loves.
Designed
by Larkin Architect, the Centre will incorporate the latest strategies
in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, also known as
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
PRISM
is engaged to provide project management services ranging from
development of the project budget and schedule to tendering
and
site administration. PRISM is in charge of leading the site planning
process to obtain City of Toronto approval and in the process will
identify opportunities for “value-added” cost savings.
