Through a
“first-of-its-kind” bond offering, PRISM successfully led and delivered
the University Health Network (UHN) redevelopment project. An
innovative redevelopment and renewal strategy, using a
construction-management methodology, was instrumental in creating a
state-of-the-art, efficient academic health sciences
facility. This six-year multifaceted redevelopment,
delivered on-time and on-budget, has successfully integrated three of
Toronto’s leading hospitals and associated research
facilities while maintaining patient care levels and
volumes during construction and renovation.
PRISM responsibilities include the demolition of outdated facilities, disposal of redundant real estate, construction of 22 new surgical suites, multiple intensive care units and diagnostic and treatment facilities. Consolidation of out-patient activity in the new ambulatory facility, consolidation of in-patient activity and implementation of sophisticated digital technologies resulted in improved patient care and operational efficiencies.
