The
New Women’s College Hospital, fully affiliated with the University of
Toronto, is the first and only independent academic ambulatory care
hospital in Ontario and the only hospital in Ontario with a primary
focus on women’s health.
Currently,
The New Women’s
College Hospital is providing all patient programs, services and
research from three sites in out-dated facilities, which include the
main hospital site located at 76 Grenville Street (originally build in
1934) as well as several floor at 790 Bay Street and Burton Hall at 60
Grosvenor Street. The total gross floor area of 577,000 is both
inefficient and inappropriately designed to meet the needs of modern,
cutting-edge ambulatory care.
Through PRISM's leadership, WCH's expert consortium, Murphy
Hilgers Inc., in association with Karlsberger and
Kurt Salmon
Associates completed the Master Programming, Master Planning, Business
Case Development and Functional Programming within an
aggressive
6-month timeframe. The submissions are currently under Ministry review.
The
new academic
ambulatory care facility is scheduled for construction start in
2008/2009 following an alternative financing and procurement model.
